Style of Therapy
I believe the most important aspect of any type of therapy is the relationship between the client and therapist and this is why I strive to build a sense of connection and level of comfort that can only be established by an open and honest presence. My focus in therapy is from a client-centered, holistic, and humanistic approach and I rarely work from one specific theoretical approach, often incorporating Cognitive Behavioral techniques as well as experiential strategies to process thoughts and feelings. I often view my clients' struggles from a Family Systems model which addresses the past and present relationships people have in their lives and how they continue to experience them and play out old patterns. I prefer to be clear about what I experience and notice with my clients and it is important to convey the reality - that therapy is a challenge and can be uncomfortable at times but extremely rewarding.
